Artist Exhibition

13 September - 26 October 2010

Aotearoa explores the deeply symbolic pulse and mystery that infuses art across the Pacific. Featuring Pacific tapa cloth and contemporary New Zealand art, it showcases the unity and origin of many Pacific art forms. The central work is a unique Ngatu 'Uli; a Tongan ceremonial tapa with a rich history. Inky black in colour and measuring close to 20 metres in length, this particular type of tapa is reserved soley for the Royal family and rarely seen in the outside world.
