Mercy Hospice Project
FHE Galleries in collaboration with Goldman Sachs JBWere undertook to create a renewed environment in the 'Room of Reflection' (Chapel) at the Mercy Hospice, Ponsonby, Auckland, August 2009. The objective was to construct a space which is both harmonious and reflective of diverse religious and spiritual beliefs.
Artists involved in the project were Emily Siddell and Chris Charteris - each of whom created works designed specifically for the space.
Emily Siddell covered the walls of the Reflection Room with a thousand hand-cast ceramic leaves, which give the room an aura of calm and tranquility. Chris Charteris worked with pounamu - a powerfully, spiritually significant stone.
Funds for the project were generously donated by Goldman Sachs JBWere Hauraki #1 Private Equity Fund in memory of Douglas Cameron Smaill. Projects such as this are undertaken by FHE Galleries on a non-commission basis.
